Promote the importance of mental and physical health to youth by having them lead a meditation and yoga session for their peers. Meditation and yoga are helpful not only to calm the body and mind but also to enhance your health. Lead this project and help the youth in your community benefit from meditation and yoga sessions.
The meditation and yoga session is led by youth, but everyone in your neighbourhood can attend and have a relaxing time. This project helps all individuals from all age groups to increase their flexibility and exercise time.
This will benefit your community because it will help youth, adults, and seniors with their mental health and physical well-being by providing a safe community area for them to rest and care for themselves. It will also physically benefit those who attend because the session will improve their mobility and inner peace, and give them exercises to re-use at home.
Clean, vacant space in a park
Two Saturday mornings in a row
Reach out to your local city hall and ask for permission from the city to run an event in a public park.
Once the event is approved, find youth who are willing to teach/lead yoga in the park. Ask your friends to help out too!
Host a meeting with youth to decide the order in which they will lead yoga and the exercises they will use during the class.
Create and print a flyer that advertises the event's location, time, and purpose. Include on the poster: to bring water bottles, sunscreen, and yoga mat. Post it around the neighbourhood and share it with friends on your preferred social media platforms.
Buy extra yoga mats, speakers, extra sunscreen, a water cooler, and water bottles, and find a table to organize these items for the day.
Show up to the park early with youth yoga leaders to set up.
Run the class!
Clean up afterwards.
