Youth help seniors with seasonal outdoor tasks such as shoveling snow, raking leaves, or light yard cleanup to keep their homes safe and accessible.
Supports seniors in maintaining a safe and livable home environment
Builds intergenerational connections and trust
Encourages community engagement and volunteerism among youth
This project empowers youth to make a meaningful impact in the lives of older adults while developing responsibility and teamwork skills
Neighborhood streets, senior residences, or community gardens
Seasonal volunteer events in fall and winter
Identify seniors in need of assistance through local networks or senior centers.
Organize youth volunteers and assign tasks.
Gather necessary tools (shovels, rakes, gloves, etc.).
Schedule visits with safety in mind and check weather conditions.
Complete yard or snow tasks and ensure proper cleanup.
✓ Snow shovels, rakes, and gloves ($0–$50)
✓ Safety vests or protective gear ($10–$30)
✓ Partnerships with senior centers or community groups (usually free)
