Promote community connections and learn about applying to post-secondary institutions by getting post-secondary students to mentor high-school students. Many high-schoolers get anxious about post-secondary applications, and do not know much about the process - combat this problem by getting post-secondary students to mentor them, while also fostering community relationships in the process!
This event will help high-school students who are anxious about applying to post-secondary institutions. Many high schoolers know very little about the application process, so this event will help them learn more and get any advice that they need.
It will allow youths in the community to connect with one another, while addressing the concerns of high-school students during a time that is stressful for them.
A local high school
On a Saturday during the summer
Contact local high schools regarding the event. Decide on a location and book a date.
Create, print, and distribute flyers recruiting post-secondary and high-school students. Share them on social media as well.
Get students to sign-up through text, e-mail, or Google Forms. Make sure they indicate whether they're in post-secondary or high school.
Match the high-school students up with an appropriate post-secondary student.
Train the post-secondary students to be proper mentors.
Run the event!
