Our next leadership camps are in Spring 2025, in-person in downtown Toronto and online
Promote accessibility and active lifestyles by hosting a wheelchair sports event in your local community. Many youths with accessibility needs are often discluded from sporting events - break this cycle by bringing the community together and facilitating a wheelchair sports event!
Some youth with disabilities might not have access to play certain sports in their communities. Hosting this event provides them with the platform to get active.
While allowing youth to be active, it also promotes community engagement. This allows the neighbourhood to bond over this fun and inclusive event.
At the local community centre or park
On a Saturday afternoon during the summer
Contact community centres around the city that have gyms, or you can choose to have it in a public court. Make sure the venue is wheelchair accessible. Book a date.
Create and print a flyer. Post it around the neighbourhood and share it with friends on Instagram.
Get people to sign-up by texting or emailing, or filling out a Google Form. Ask them what sports they'd be interested in.
Put players into groups. Create a schedule for when each game will be running.
Purchase any necessary materials and refreshments for the players (probably for around 20 people, but it's up to you how many you want).
