Our next leadership camps are in Spring 2025, in-person in downtown Toronto and online
Promote both literacy and accessibility by giving out books in accessible formats for kids with disabilities. Children with accessibility needs often find it difficult to engage in reading - break this cycle by giving them books that accommodate their needs, so they too can engage in barrier-free learning!
Reading is a key component of literacy, but it can be inaccessible to people with disabilities in the standard print format. This event will allow people to engage in reading, in formats that meet their needs.
This project provides means for barrier-free and inclusive learning, while also encouraging youth to partake in literacy-building activities.
At local schools
In September
Contact public schools around the city and ask them if they have the need for books in accessible formats. Make note of the types of formats they need, and the age groups they need them for.
Based on the information you've gathered, research and create a list of books that fit your criterion.
Purchase the necessary books.
Contact the schools you've been in touch with, and arrange a drop-off date for the books. If they're in virtual formats, send it to them.
Drop off the books!
